WORKERS' COMPENSATION MANAGED CARE

For the first time, there is now a way for businesses like yours to control the medical costs associated with workers' compensation claims. Future Care offers a comprehensive managed care system that effectively reduces inpatient admissions and lowers the cost of providing quality health care.

Future Care acts as an independent Third party to contract with selected providers on behalf of workers' compensation Carriers, third Party Administrators, and Self-Insured Employers. As your heafth care administrator, we work directly with hospitals and doctors to determine the appropriate care and medical setting to properly treat each workers compensation injury. Future Care's utilization management of inpatient admissions and contracted provider rates ensure proper care at affordable prices.

Through Pre-Admission Review both the number of inpatient admissions and the length of hospital stays are controlled. In fact, Future Care has been able to reduce the average number of days per admission by two full days for workers' compensation.

Our Future Care providers, who are credentialed prior to contracting, include hospitals, doctors, industrial clinics, urgent-care facilities, and others. Our pre-negotiated rates with these hospitals and physicians limit your medical care expenses, and our continual monitoring of our network maintains high quality service for your employees.

The Future Care program is easy to use. When an injury occurs at work, simply refer your employee to one of our contracted providers. When our physician-provider calls us before treatment, we review what treatment will be provided and whether a hospital admission is warranted. If the injury is an emergency, the doctor, patient or employer should notify Future Care within 24 hours of treatment. We will then review inpatient claims to verify that continuing hospital care is necessary.

To save the most money, you should encourage your employees to use Future Care providers for subsequent treatment and any inpatient admissions.

In addition to monitoring inpatient care, Future Care offers an Outpatient Review program that is designed to control outpatient medical treatment by identifying unbundling of services, reviewing utilization of services and medical appropriateness, and examining charges to assure that they are related to the diagnosis and/or injury.

The end result is that your employees receive the quality care necessary to treat their injuries and reasonable fees are charged for these services. The cost of treatment for workers' compensation injuries can he substantially less through Future Care. These savings are passed on to you through lower claim costs.
